Wenonah Public School

taxo:

Our last photo-postcard from Christine Flowers --- a very familiar building to Wenonahians. Thanks again for your donation, Christine!

This building was opened in 1894, see WHS Newsletter, November, 2008, page 2.

These excerpts about the "new school" in Wenonah are in the September 19, 1894 edition of "The Constitution." The referenced new school was the stone building at the northwest corner of Clinton and Elm. The newspaper validates the school opened in 1894, or more precisely, on Monday, September 17, 1894.

Boys with baseball equipment outside of the stone school building.

The teacher filling out the register was Rilla Bugbee.
